Today the Frederick Keys step up to the plate for health care under the Affordable Care Act.

Keys shortstop Adrian Marin has put his voice, in English and Spanish, to an ad that encourages the public to enroll in health insurance through the Maryland Health Connection website: marylandhealthconnection.gov.

The radio ad may be heard locally on WFMD and stations throughout the state. It is being launched at 11 a.m. today during an event at Harry Grove Stadium with Carolyn Quattrocki, executive director of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange.

Geoff Arnold, broadcasting and public relations manager for the Keys, said Marin is a Baltimore Orioles prospect who was a good choice for an ad directed at the public.

“It’s somebody that they’d recognize,” Arnold said.

The Keys used their recording studio to produce the ad about health care options and requirements, Arnold said.

“We’re trying to do our part in the community … letting people know what’s out there.”
