Maryland is fortunate to have so many nationally-recognized health care institutions. Sometimes it’s hard to know which hospital is best for you and your family’s needs. The Maryland Health Care Commission has begun a process to make formal data regarding hospital performance easy for consumers to use to inform health care decision making.
On the new Hospital Guide website, you can learn how your local hospitals compare to the national and state average on metrics like overall consumer ratings, emergency care, infection rates, and quality. You can also see the top 25 most common conditions treated by each hospital and how much they charge to treat those conditions on average. A special feature also allows you to compare these hospital ratings side by side to help you narrow down your broad field of choices based on how they score on what is most important to you.
