We are thrilled that the Republican Congressional leadership’s shameful attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act is apparently stalled for the foreseeable future. This is good news for the many millions of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Marylanders whose lives have been made immeasurably better by the ACA.
We at the Maryland Health Care For All! Coalition will continue to work hard to protect the ACA and to build upon our health care progress.
On Wednesday evening, July 19th, we will hold an event in Salisbury to highlight the benefits of Medicaid. The event, which will feature people on the lower Eastern Shore who have benefited from Medicaid, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the One Stop Job Market, 31901 Tri-County Way in Salisbury.
In addition, I will work hard as a member of the new Health Insurance Coverage Protection Commission which will monitor efforts by the Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans to undermine the ACA and propose ways to protect and improve the health care of Marylanders. The first meeting of this Commission will be on Tuesday, August 1 at 1pm at the House Health and Government Operations Committee Room of the Maryland House of Delegates in Annapolis.
We at the Maryland Health Care For All! Coalition commend Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and Representatives Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Anthony Brown, Steny Hoyer, John Delaney, Elijah Cummings, and Jamie Raskin for their leadership in standing firm in support of the life-saving Affordable Care Act.
