State Officials and Health Advocates Launch Super Health Sunday, Release Radio Ad featuring Orioles Superstar Adam Jones To Encourage Health Coverage Enrollment
Baltimore, MD (January 19, 2015) – On Thursday, January 21st at 10am at the Perkins Square Baptist Church, 2500 Edmondson Avenue in Baltimore City, health care advocates and state officials will hold a press conference to announce the re-airing of a radio ad featuring Baltimore Orioles Superstar Adam Jones urging Marylanders to call 211 or go to https://www.marylandhealthconnection.gov/ to find out about their eligibility for health care coverage. When this ad was run in January 2015, it resulted in a substantial increase in Marylanders enrolling in health care coverage. The new ad will begin running in the next two weeks and can be heard at https://healthcareforall.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/New-211-Campaign-Adam-Jones-012215.mp3.
This year health advocates and state officials are placing special emphasis on reaching people who were recently enrolled in Medicaid but have not yet re-enrolled themselves. Medicaid recipients must renew their eligibility every 12 months. State officials and health advocates are launching this radio ad campaign and urging faith leaders to participate in outreach efforts on Super Health Sunday, January 24th.
At the press conference announcing the new ad campaign will be Representative Elijah Cummings, Carolyn Quattrocki, Executive Director of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen and, Vincent DeMarco, President of the Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative and the Health Care for All! Coalition. Critical financial support to make the Adam Jones ad possible was provided by Amerigroup Maryland, Johns Hopkins University and Health System, Kaiser Permanente, and Riverside Health.
“We thank Adam for doing this very important ad,” Quattrocki said. “Over 400,000 Marylanders have enrolled in health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act and we are working to make sure every eligible Marylander gets enrolled.”
“Adam’s message is simple,” said DeMarco. “Just call 211 or go to marylandhealthconnection.gov to get the health care you need. Especially if you were on Medicaid and did not yet re-enroll, call 211 now.”
