Recently President Obama reminded the nation what we in Maryland already know: The Affordable Care Act is already delivering “more choices, better benefits, a check on rising costs and higher quality care.” Just ask Prince George’s County business owner Jamal Lee.

Mr. Lee visited the White House to share how the ACA’s tax credits have allowed him to provide health insurance for his employees for the past three years. Next year, the ACA will be even better for his bottom line — tax credits will cover up to half of his health care costs.

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot understands how much the ACA means for Maryland businesses and how the ACA will help our state’s consumers save money and get the benefits they deserve.

Next week, Mr. Franchot will join the Maryland Health Care for All Coalition in an effort to reach more than 5,000 small businesses in Howard County and make sure that, like Mr. Lee, they’re taking full advantage of financial assistance offered by the ACA so that more businesses can offer health insurance to their employees.

Marylanders know a good thing when they see it, and the ACA is a very good thing. We’re already using this law to strengthen our economy, invest in a healthy workforce and expand coverage to nearly 300,000 more state residents.
