The Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition advocated in support of the Maryland Health Equity Resource Communities Act in 2021 which set aside $59M in new state funding for initiatives that eliminate barriers to care and improve health outcomes in parts of our state with the greatest disparities.

The first phase of the law, the Pathways to Health Equity grants, resulted in $13.9M nine new state grants to address a wide range of communities and health conditions. More information about the grantees is available here

The second phase of the law is now in motion.  Last week the Maryland Community Health Resource Commission announced the Call for Proposals for communities wishing to be designated as “Health Equity Resource Communities.” They will host a zoom call for interested parties on Monday Oct 16th at 9:30AM. Please share with those in your network who may be interested in this new funding opportunity to eliminate barriers to care in your community.

While more can and should be done to address the conditions that contribute to health disparities, we are proud of the role our coalition has played in making this a priority and are excited to see the Maryland Health Equity Resource Communities Act advance to the next stage of implementation. Thank you for your role in this success!
