Vincent DeMarco, president of the Maryland HealthCare for All! Coalition, released the following statement today following final passage of the Inflation Reduction Act:
“We commend the United States House of Representatives for today giving final passage to landmark legislation which will make high-cost drugs more affordable for Americans on Medicare and continue critically needed health care subsidies for millions of Americans on the Affordable Care Act.
“Hundreds of thousands of Marylanders will live healthier and better lives because of the Inflation Reduction Act which also does much to protect our planet from the ravages of climate change.
We look forward to President Joe Biden signing this life saving measure into law soon.
Special thanks to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and all the other Members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation who voted for this measure for their leadership on the Inflation Reduction Act.”
