FRIDAY: Cardin to Spotlight Need to Lower Prices for Prescription Drugs

Study shows one-third of patients skipping prescription meds because of costs

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23 at 1:30 PM, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin will visit Baltimore’s Northern Pharmacy and Medical Equipment for a roundtable discussion with community pharmacists, public health experts and patients’ advocates on the fight to lower the cost of prescription drugs. The senator and participants are expected to discuss the negative effects of efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act on Maryland communities, how current program designs for Medicare and Medicaid are placing barriers between life-saving medications and those who can least afford them, and ongoing efforts to create meaningful legislative reforms to lower drug prices and patient out-of-pocket costs. Following the discussion, which is open to press, the senator and select participants also will hold a brief media availability.
