The Frederick County Health Department is co-hosting a forum on Medicaid at the end of April.

The event will be held in collaboration with Sen. Ron Young (D-District 3) and the Maryland Health Care for All Coalition, an advocacy group that aims to educate residents on expanding health care access.

The forum will provide information on Medicaid and give attendees a chance to share how the program has affected their lives, according to a release from the department.

Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, county health officer, will speak on a panel at the forum.

“We find that not everyone is familiar with what Medicaid is, who is eligible, how to apply, what Medicaid covers or how to access services through Medicaid,” she said in a statement. “We seek outreach and education opportunities to improve the community’s awareness and knowledge.”

The forum is scheduled for April 26 from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bernard W. Brown Community Center, 629 N. Market St., Frederick. Attendees can sign up at tinyurl.com/frederickmedicaid.
