Hundreds of thousands of Marylanders will be hurt by the health care cuts in the reconciliation package

Baltimore, MD– The Maryland Health Care for All Coalition shared deep disappointment with today’s passage of the reconciliation bill by Congress.

“This measure will likely cause millions of Americans, including hundreds of thousands of Marylanders to lose their health care coverage,” said Vincent DeMarco, president of the Maryland Health Care for All Coalition. “This will be devastating for many people in our state whose health and financial wellbeing will be harmed. And we will all suffer as uncompensated hospital care will go up, raising our health insurance premiums. Despite the harm that will come from this callous action, we at Maryland Health Care for All commit ourselves to working closely with Governor Wes Moore and the Maryland General Assembly to mitigate these impacts as much as we can and to continue the progress we have been making toward quality affordable health care for all Marylanders.”
