Maryland Health Secretary Meena Seshamani will join other public health officials and a leader of Maryland Health Care for All Coalition in an October 31st webinar to share information about health care opportunities and challenges in Maryland the day before Open Enrollment begins for many Marylanders.

The webinar comes as the federal government has yet to renew tax credits that have helped many Marylanders afford health insurance purchased through the state’s online health insurance marketplace. Open Enrollment for those insurance plans begins November 1st, the day after the webinar. The webinar will highlight actions taken by the state to help protect Marylanders from federal cuts.“

Maryland has taken proactive steps that will help us deal with some of the health care cuts and policy changes coming out of Washington, and this webinar is a great opportunity to learn more. Open Enrollment for private insurance plans on the state health exchange begins November 1st, and we want to share information about how Marylanders can enroll in coverage,” said Vincent DeMarco, president of Maryland Health Care for All. “This webinar will highlight the great work that the administration of Governor Wes Moore is doing to counteract the damaging cuts in Washington.”

Michele Eberle, executive director of Maryland Health Connection, the state’s online health insurance marketplace, will provide information about the Open Enrollment period. Patti Dorn, Associate Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration, will update the public on available insurance resources, and Rev. Dr. Sandra Conner, Deputy Director, Maryland Health Care for All, will highlight how the ongoing policy changes affect Maryland consumers. The webinar, sponsored by Maryland Health Care for All, will take place virtually.
